Case Studies - Shingles

JM is an 87-year old man who experienced an outbreak of shingle across his back in late August 2007. He saw a physician who tried to manage his pain with prescription medications. The medication only worked temporarily and there was no improvement in the shingles. He was afraid to leave his house and drive since sitting up against the seat of the car would exacerbate the pain. On October 8, 2007 he received his first ONDAMED biofeedback treatment. The day after receiving ONDAMED, the shingles outbreak became worse and he was reluctant to have another treatment. A few days later he informed the practitioner that the outbreak cleared up quickly and he was feeling much better and had no pain. On October 15, 2007 he received another ONDAMED treatment. He felt better almost immediately, he could go out and drive and resume his normal activities. JM followed up via telephone with the practitioner on October 26, 2007 and had not experienced another shingles outbreak since his last treatment. If he experiences another shingles outbreak, he will resume ONDAMED biofeedback treatment immediately. (Case Study conducted by Dr. Shari Lieberman)
